چکیده

OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between serum visfatin and the progress of chronic viral hepatitis B cirrhosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Selected 153 cases of chronic hepatitis B patients with cirrhosis as an observational group. Among which, Child-Pugh Grade was divided into grade A with 31 cases, grade B with 79 cases and grade C with 43 cases. 50 healthy people were added to the study and were considered as control group. Comparison of the sera levels of visfatin, blood lipid, liver fibrosis indexes, fasting plasma glucose and fasting insulin of the observational and those of the control group were done. RESULTS Levels of visfatin, hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin (LN), type IV collagen (CIV) and insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were significantly increased (p<0.05) while those of the liver function damage aggravating in observational group. The differences were of no statistical significance for the levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), fasting plasma glucose (FBG) and fasting insulin level (Fins) (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The increase of the levels of serum visfatin of chronic hepatitis B patients with cirrhosis is related to liver cirrhosis progress, indicators of hepatic fibrosis and HOMA-IR.

The Increased Level of Serum p53 in Hepatitis B-Associated Liver Cirrhosis

Background: The ability of tumour suppressor protein p53 (P53) to regulate cell cycle processes can be modulated by hepatitis B virus (HBV). While preliminary evidences indicates the involvement of protein-x of HBV (HBx) in altering p53 DNA binding, no further data have been accumulated for the significance of serum p53 in chronic hepatitis B virus infected patients. Methods: 72 non-cirrhotic a...

Relationship between hepatitis B DNA Viral load in the liver and it\'s histology in patient with chronic hepatitis B

Background: Serial measurement of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels in the liver and its relation with liver damage and serum HBV DNA levels are guide to begin and/or end a treatment course. This study evaluated the relationship between liver hepatitis B DNA viral load with liver histology in patients with chronic hepatitis B (HBV). Methods: Thirty patients with chronic anti-Hbe positive ...

Gut Microbiota and Chronic Hepatitis B and C Viruses-Induced Cirrhosis

Hepatitis B and C viruses are major public health problems. These viruses can chronically lead to liver disease such as fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, which often increase mortality in these patients. According to previous studies, the liver is highly affected by changes in the microbiota of gastrointestinal tract and immune system damage caused by inflammation due to viral ...

Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in large vehicle drivers in center of Iran (Yazd)

Introduction: Hepatitis B and C are major health problems in many countries, especially developing areas. The frequency of hepatitis B is less than 0.8%, and chronic hepatitis C is less than 0.5% in the general population of Yazd in the center of Iran. Large vehicle drivers have some risk factors for acquiring hepatitis B and C infection. This is important because viral hepatitis complications,...

Abstract Background and objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus with high tendency toward hepatic tissue. There are currently about 3 million HBV-infected people and 350 to 400 million chronic carriers of this virus in the world. X protein plays a role in the over-expression of oncogenes, carcinogenicity of liver cells and overlaps with the basal co...
